I told the salesmen that I just wanted to see one, but all I could afford is a used one. I then went through the whole gimmick and test drove it (fucking amazing car btw) but I still told them that I can’t afford a new one. They then came back with the numbers and really wanted me to buy the car, but my comfort level wasn’t there. Then they really put on the pressure, but that made me more uncomfortable. When I voiced my discomfort they kept trying as I was walking out of the showroom. I get it, they need to sell cars to make a living, but still I felt icky. Definitely trying to find a used one though.

A Honda salesman once literally chased me and my wife across the lot all the way to where we parked shouting God knows what. This after the other usual tactics: refusing to show us the car we actually came to see, intentionally leading us to much newer vehicles, talking over me, everything. EVERYTHING!

I loathe shopping at a dealer...

This guy really tried to work with me, but starting out by saying that people pay over sticker for these and trying to get the math to equal a $500 a month payment which would have been around an 8 year fucking loan. I had enough and walked away.

Me- “Thank you for your time, but I’m not comfortable with this.”

Sales- “Come on we can make this work.”

Me- “No, I need to leave.” /gets up to leave

Other sales bro as I’m leaving- “Can we help you?”

Me- “No, where is my car. I’m not doing this.”

OSB- “I think it’s over there, but we can get this-”

Me- “No, where is MY CAR. I’m leaving.”

OSB points to car. I leave.

Sucks to deal with that. And it’s sad you have too just to test drive a car you’re interested in.

I would love to test drive a BRZ or STi. Just to see the hype.

A Mustang or C harger or Camaro because v8.

Bit I dread even going out and shopping because of dealers , I’m not exactly in the market right now but would like to start my research before getting serious.

I once went to help a friend find a new car. We were at a Honda dealer and the salesman asked what he did for a living. When he mentioned that he was a waiter at a chain steak restaurant the salesman asked “are you sure that you can afford a car like this?” It was a fucking Accord Coupe, not an NSX. He has regular clientele and minimal expenses, so money wasn’t an issue. We took his 5-gallon water bottle full of change to the bank and it contained $4,700 - yeah, he can afford a Honda.

The salesman pissed him off so he bought a Jetta instead. Too bad it was an unreliable PoS...

Bing pushy is one thing I REFUSED to do when I was a car salesmen, which is why I’m not longer a cars salesmen.

The othering was lie. Oh and I did also refuse to sell a POS diesel Jeep Liberty, because I Didnt want to lie.

He should have asked “how much are you, going to finance” because when you work a tip job getting a loan can be difficult. Same is true for salesmen and other commissions based jobs. lol.
